Bachmann today found another poor lost soul in the GOP eager to associate with her on the issue of healthcare reform.
Bachmann, who was quoted a few days ago trying to insist that the reform bill progressives were pushing for included a provision that would call for a nationwide network of abortion clinics across the country, was on the House floor calling the plans for a public option a poor idea because it was cheaper than private plans.
Approximately 114 million Americans are expected to leave private health insurance. Why? Their employers will drop the insurance because the taxpayer-subsidized plan will be 30 to 40 percent cheaper. This action will collapse the private health insurance market, and then the Federal Government will own the health provider game.
It appears that Bachmann forgot exactly who she was talking to as some 75% were recently polled saying their healthcare coverage wasn’t what they wanted. Additionally this country spends more on healthcare than most industrialized nations, yet gets less out of it in return.
If you’ve watched Michael Moore’s healthcare docu-commentary Sicko or read any of Wendall Potter’s testimony before Congress (or the Moyers interview (see the link below)), you’ll know why that is exactly (the money shifts upward to corporate coffers than it does to providing healthcare).
