Why? 'Cause everyone's a critic

It’s been quite some time for Rep. Bachmann to say something completely inane on the floor of the House , so we were due.

In this edition, covered by the Minnesota Independent, Michelle Bachmann promotes the new GOP meme of wanting to see the new (partially) government-owned General Motors (or “Government Motors” as they like to call it) fail because

1) they took government money and that’s only supposed to go to companies that support GOP candidates.

2) they gave unions majority ownership in the new company and

3)The Obama administration did the right thing and just like Nietzsche’s lion, they have to oppose everything, no matter how nonsensical it makes them.

The story points out that Bachmann deplores members of Congress interfering in the free market system (in this case the member of Congress, Minnesota’s sole Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), talked to GM pre-bailout in order to convince them not to close several local dealerships they had announced would be closing as part of their restructuring), specifically calling it a “gangster government”. However, Bachmann has recently made the news attempting to do the same thing (a rare intelligent move on her part).

Additionally, she also likened the U.S. economy to the Titanic, which I suspect made her constituents who have just lost their jobs feel all that more confident in America’s ability to recover from this recession (or depression, depending on which economist you happen to be listening to).

So hat’s off Rep Bachmann for once again proving people will say just about anything when they know there’s a camera on them.
